Things to Consider
With all of these choices, how do you pick the one that is right for you? Just the thought of having to decipher and consider all of these options is enough to raise your blood pressure yet again!
Some things to consider when choosing a monitor:
Be sure to discuss these monitor choices with your physician (he/she may suggest a specific brand or model for your symptoms and conditions)
Talk to your insurance company to see if your policy covers all or part of the monitor.
Consider testing each type of monitor, and finding out about cost, maintenance, unique features, and return policies.
Whichever monitor you end up choosing be sure to bring it in for inspection by your physician, and calibrate it to his/her office readings.
Make sure the cuff will snugly fit over your arm (leaving about a fingertip's-worth of room in between the cuff and the skin).
Make sure the monitor is easy to operate and read.
