What is Hypertension?

You may be surprised if your doctor says you have hypertension because it does not cause symptoms and you can have it even though you feel fine. But hypertension, often called "high blood pressure" can pose serious health risks. In short, hypertension is a condition in which the heart pumps excessive pressure against the inner walls of arteries.

Hypertension can lead to stroke, heart disease, kidney failure and other health problems. The good news is that there are simple ways to control it.
